Chez Nenesse is a long-running bistro used as a canteen for nearby art people (Zwirner and Almine Rech are a five minute walk) and architects, with some coming in solo to manage a main and a glass in thirty. The tables are covered in old pink checkered cloths and most regulars are on some kind of basis with the Leplu family (Roger, Chantal, and their son Cyril), who have been running it since 1998.
People like the cooking because it’s what you’d eat at home if someone had time: veal sweetbreads and rice; an herbed steak with a mother sauce, greens and potatoes. It’s really good. Just not the postcard plate most tourists come to Paris for, so they rarely end up here. Thursdays are noticeably busier because that’s the one day a week they do fries.
