Stars opened so the fans of Claud and Penny, two known hard Resys, could walk in and have some wine. There is a 60-page list with 88 bottles under $88 and a 1988 Jacques Selosse at $4,200 by the end. "A spot to pop in," as Chase Sinzer, one of the owners, put it.

The design world knows it as the only bar (and its smallest project, at 410 square feet) designed by Studio Valle de Valle, the AD100 firm whose Rizzoli book is out this month. More importantly, there are two Frank Stellas: the 1998 enamel No Smoking sign in the bathroom and a 1977 print, Noguchi's Okinawa Woodpecker, at the bar, both on loan from his son. Everyone else knows it for the wait, which on a busy night can get long enough that the staff has had to turn people away. This summer they started opening on weekends to serve beignets and Maru, an LA import also known for its lines.
